Role Description

Arbios is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Process Chemist to join our team. Working closely with Operations and Engineering, this role is responsible for supporting plant operations through hands-on laboratory analysis and characterization of process materials, including oil, water, and solids. You’ll play a key role in generating high-quality data, identifying process trends, supporting troubleshooting efforts, and contributing to process optimization. As the organization grows, this role has the opportunity to expand in scope to support broader quality control systems and processes. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct chemical analysis and characterization of process streams (oil, water, solids)
  • Perform routine and non-routine lab testing using wet chemistry and other analytical techniques
  • Interpret and communicate data to support operational decision-making
  • Support troubleshooting by investigating process deviations and providing data and testing results to help identify root causes.
  • Maintain accurate, consistent, and detailed laboratory records and documentation
  • Assist in developing and improving lab methods, testing protocols, and standard procedures
  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering to support process optimization and performance
  • Leads and conducts root cause analysis and CAPA process for all quality issues.
  • Develops, implements, and reports quality specific KPI’s.
  • Contribute to a strong, data-driven and quality-focused culture within the plant
  • Support quality-related activities and systems as the role evolves
Skills and Experience
  • Strong chemistry foundation with hands-on laboratory experience
  • High proficiency in wet chemistry techniques and practical bench work
  • Ability to analyze complex samples and translate results into clear insights
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a curious, investigative mindset
  • Comfortable troubleshooting and thinking beyond standard procedures
  • High attention to detail with reliable documentation practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in industrial or chemical manufacturing environments is an asset
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS requirements and associated codes, standards and regulation as well as government regulatory bodies overseeing energy industry activities in Canada
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (preferred), or a related field such as Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or Environmental Science
  • Organic Chemistry focus considered an asset

Compensation
  • $60,000–$80,000 annually, depending on skills and experience.
